CraftyPlans is university student, climber, skier, and general Backcountry Betty, Sydney.
Sydney spends her summers living in a messy room in small town British Columbia adopting drifters, building fires, cursing out trains and living in one of the few places left on the Trans-Canada that still lacks cellphone coverage and proper internet. She’s a vertical mover, and feels most at home strung up on the side of a mountain. Biking, backpacking, scrambling and trail running also make frequent appearances on her to-do list.
She spends most of the year buried under an avalanche of school, studying Kinesiology at the University of Calgary. Much of what she writes about are things that she learned in school and how they relate to her life as a backcountry athlete. In the winter she spends what little time is left over from university out playing in the snow. This typically takes the form of back country skiing.
She is also a camera hack, a bike enthusiast and an extremely pretentious coffee drinker.
